AEM's next general assembly will take place on February 3, 2011

It will be dedicated to EU priority subjects for mountain territories

AEM's next General assembly will take place on February the 3rd, 2011. The theme will be the EU priority subjects for mountain territories that are currently being discussed.

Besides the statutory part and the setting up of the new Executive Board, this General Assembly, under the new presidency of Miguel Angel Palacio Garcia, will be composed of a round table on the valorization of eco-systemic services in mountains during the morning.

The afternoon, a seminar will be organized in partnership with the European Parliament Intergroup on “mountains, islands and sparsely populated areas”. It will be the occasion to debate on the future of the cohesion policy with, among others, Danuta Hübner, MEP President of the REGI Committee and former EU Commissionner in charge of the regional policy.  Michel Barnier, European Commissioner in charge of the Internal Market and Services will also be adressing a speech on : “Internal market, General interest services and regions with natural permanent handicaps”.
