6 of October 2010: Open Days event - Towards a macro region strategy for the Alps
Within the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities (Open Days), the workshop “TOWARDS AN ALPINE MACRO REGION” gathered several regional authorities and stakeholders from the Alps. The aim of this event was to debate and to share best practices leading to a coherent macro region strategy for the Alps.
For the occasion, the Secretary-General of the Alpine Convention, Marco Onida, animated the first round table, which was opened by Michele Pasca-Raymondo, Deputy Director General at the Directorate General for Regional Policy of the European Commission and by Joël Giraud, vice president of AEM and of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (France).
The second round table was animated by Nicolas Evrard, AEM's Secretary-General. The debate focused on the additionnal actions needed to achieve a coherent macro region stategy for the Alps. Representatives from Tyrol (Austria), Western Slovenia (Slovenia), Franche-Comté (France), Trentino (Italy), South Tyrol (Italy), Lombardia (Italy) participated to the debate.
Luis Durnwalder, President of the autonomous province of Bolzano concluded the workshop with very enthusiast speech, calling for a better coordination of Alpine public policies.
