Relations avec les organisations européennes

European Community

The AEM is in constant contact with the Economic and Social Committee, the Regional Committee, the European Parliament, in which several of its members sit as individuals or as representatives of their local authority, and with the European Commission.

Council of Europe

As a result of its consultative status with the Council of Europe the AEM is invited to participate in the work of its various committees and in the conferences it organises. Several of its directors sit either in the Parliamentary Assembly or in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe.

Our organisation was the prime mover behind the 3rd European conference of mountain regions.

Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)

With a view to organising common actions in the field of mountain policy, regional policy or rural development the AEM has established co-operative links with various NGOs: European Federation of forest communes, Conference of peripheral maritime regions of Europe (CPMR) and Euromontana. It is a partner of the European movement for rural life (MER).
